United Steelworker members from three locals were joined by other union activists in Concord, NH. to extend a labor greeting to Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker. They made him feel right at home with solidarity signs and labor words of wisdom. It was ironic that Walker, with his record on cutting public education, and the New Hampshire GOP scheduled their event at the Concord Public High School.
The special guest from Wisconsin tried to slip out of the event by using a side door but over 100 union activists made it known his type of policies were as unwelcome and unwanted as he was. A press conference was held on site and was covered by the print and television media.
Steelworker representatives included Local 8983 President Charles Courchesne, retired past President Mike Roche, Adam Desrosiers, Kevin MacArthur and Rich St. Jean; Local 4-4, Dennis LaBounty; Local 1862, Kevin Pike and Kevin McAvoy, Associate member Patricia Lawson was also present.
USW supplied coffee and donuts and “Made in the USA” American flags for the activists who attended this great event sponsored by the NH AFL-CIO.
