Support the USW Oil Workers ULP Strike and Defense Fund

On February 1, 2015, USW members at nine refineries and chemical plants were forced out on an unfair labor practice strike as industry negotiators failed to address serious concerns raised by the USW regarding the health and safety of workers and their communities.  A week later workers at two more facilities joined the fight.

The industry gave us no other option.

In addition to health and safety issues, contracting out and health care, the USW unfair labor practice (ULP) strike is over the oil companies’ bad faith bargaining, including the refusal to bargain over mandatory subjects; undue delays in providing information; impeded bargaining; and threats issued to workers if they joined the ULP strike.

More than 5,000 USW members at the eleven refineries in Texas, Washington, California, Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana are fighting hard and standing strong on behalf of the 65 oil refineries and almost 200 other facilities including oil terminals, pipelines and petrochemical plants.

They need our support. Your local can help by taking actions such as gate collections, donations, or sending striking locals payments from your Local Union treasury.
