USW Cares: USW Local 715 Raises $15,000 for Toys for Tots Program

Submitted by Charlie Odier

Continuing a yearly tradition, members of United Steelworkers Local 715, in Woodburn, IN., once again held their Toys for Tots program. They set up collection boxes in their plant for toy donations and also conduct gate collections. With donations from Local 715, B.F Goodrich and gift card donations from Meijer store, they raised $15,000.

The “union Meijer store in Defiance, Ohio also gives them discounts and allows them to go through a special checkout lane to ring in all the toys. They do not keep track but they know they have brought smiles to thousands of young faces.

Local Union 715 would like to thank all those who helped with the project and who gave donations and want people to know, “We are a UNION who CARES!”

This project is just one of so many USW’s amazing members do every day to give back to our communities. If you or your local are doing good things in your community, we want to hear about them. Let us know and share video and photos at www.usw.org/uswcares and use the #USWCares hashtag when you post your stories on social media. Don’t forget to shout out @Steelworkers!
