USW Cares: USW Local 158 Continues a Tradition for over 50 Years

Submitted by Malinda Sholler

Since the early 1960’s, United Steelworkers Local 158 in Kittanning, PA, has hosted a party for all children and grandchildren of members. And, the special guest just happens to be Santa.

The tradition was started by the members from Eljer (Aluminum Brick and Glass Workers until it merged with United Steelworkers) and members at Local 158 have carried on the tradition.

This year 77 children (and a few “older” kids) visited with Santa to receive a special treat.

This project is just one of so many USW’s amazing members do every day to give back to our communities. If you or your local are doing good things in your community, we want to hear about them. Let us know and share video and photos at www.usw.org/uswcares and use the #USWCares hashtag when you post your stories on social media. Don’t forget to shout out @Steelworkers!
