USW Local 9402 Awarded the first Annual District 13 Rapid Response Scholarship

In September 2013, the delegates to the District 13 Convention unanimously passed a Rapid Response resolution that contained a “scholarship”. The resolution stated that District 13 will provide to a Local that has promoted, encouraged, and engaged its members to participate in each Rapid Response action a scholarship which will pay up to $1000.00 per year for one delegates expenses, to attend the national Rapid Response conference.

Local 9402 was drawn from the eligible Locals and sent 4 delegates to the conference last week that was held in Washington D.C.  Local President Larry Hall stated that with his Local only having 32 members it was virtually impossible to attend the conference without the scholarship and thanked everyone for their commitment to our Union and Rapid Response. The 4 delegates demonstrated their commitment by using vacation time to help offset the cost of attending the conference.
