United Steelworkers President Leo Gerard joined fellow union leaders, steelworkers, teamsters, firefighters and communication workers at the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in Louisville, KY, to show support for Kentucky Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes who is looking to pull out an upset victory over U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell.
“Not once, has Mitch McConnell ever showed up to stand up for American jobs when we were brining trade cases against those countries that were stealing our jobs br cheating,” said Gerard.
U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass. ignited the audience before introducing Grimes who stoked the fire for the standup crowd of 500 faithful.
Grimes and Warren stated their support for increasing the minimum wage, for equal pay for women for equal work, assisting students debt refinancing and honoring their promises.
